Letrozole Tablets contain an active substance called letrozole. It belongs to a group of medicines called aromatase inhibitors. It is a hormonal (or “endocrine”) breast cancer treatment. It works by decreasing the amount of estrogen produced by the body. This can slow or stop the growth of some types of breast cancer cells that need estrogen to grow.
Letrozole is an oral fertility medication. It can be used to induce ovulation in women who don’t ovulate or to produce multiple eggs in women who already ovulate on their own. It does this by affecting certain female hormone levels. It also improves the endometrial thickness and encourages healthy ovarian follicular development

Therapeutic Indication
● Letrozole Tablets are used to treat breast cancer in women who have gone through menopause i.e. cessation of periods.

Mechanism of action
Letrozole is a non-steroidal type II aromatase inhibitor. It blocks the active site, and therefore the electron transfer chain of CYP19A1. This competitive inhibition prevents the conversion of androgens to estrogen. This action leads to a reduction in uterine weight and elevated luteinizing hormone.
For fertility: Letrozole encourages the ovaries to ovulate by producing more natural stimulation. Letrozole improves ovulation by blocking estrogen production, which causes the body to release higher than normal levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
